Squawkster's post inspired this. And made me recall a couple of incidents.
I realized something.. That most people can't really be bothered about themselves, and that there are some seriously kind-hearted people around..
Incident #1:
Was at HMV yesterday browsing thru some CDs and DVDs..
There was a Huge special packaged DVD that dropped on the floor.. There were 3 people along that particular shelf.. And one guy just simply walked across it.
Yes, RIGHT ACROSS it.
Yea, maybe he did miss it. But somehow he didnt trip over that thing and fall flat on his face. Very coincidentally he made a much bigger step when he reached the spot where the disc was. How disgusting is that? I wish nobody would help him when he trips, falls and twists his bloody ankle.
Incident #2
Was on my way back from breakfast with my aunt today and we saw my neighbour who stays 2 doors away lying on the floor under the next block.. He's in his 60s or 70s.. Stays with his son, but his son goes to work early in the morning and returns home late at night..
So anyway I was sure that he's been lying down there for at least a couple of minutes already coz I didn't see him fall while walking towards the block.. Apparently he slipped and fell.. (due to the damned weather) There were like a couple of aunties in front of us.. Some extremely irritating and noisy aunties who talks like the one they're speaking to is deaf.. Surprisingly they didn't see the old uncle on the floor.. Their mouths must've been way too big and took up some of the space where their eyes should be..
Why didn't they help? Because they didn't want to trouble themselves? Because they think a samaritan would pass by sooner or later? Because my neighbour had some hygiene problems? Because they thought he was a beggar? Because the old man couldnt speak properly and no other human in the world could understand even if he was asking for help? Or because they just couldn't be freaking bothered about others?
The least they could do was to ask if the poor old man was okay if they didn't have the strength to help him up. Arg I feel so disgusted by these people. Gross.
But, thank god.. Out of the several people who made me turn my innards out this couple of days, there was a kind soul to compensate. A maid. Either Filipino or Indonesian. She helped out to bring the old man back to his apartment. Got him water. Helped him to the bed. Talked to him, albeit in English that the old man totally had no idea what she was babbling about.. But hey, she helped! SHE'S A MAID! Someone who gets a measly pay and would probably get a scolding when she gets home coz she took longer than supposed to to buy breakfast for the spoilt brats! I applaud you. I truly do. Don't worry, you'll get enough money to bring back home.
Shame on the people who didnt help. SHAME ON YOU.
Im on the verge of slamming some stuff now. Way too disgusted.
Gross out.
