A shooting star is really a meteoroid--a fragment of an asteroid or a comet, made up of iron, silicates or a mixture of both. When the asteroid or comet is shattered by an explosion in space, meteoroids are propelled through the earth's atmosphere, creating friction, which heats up the "shooting star" and gives it the glow we see. Do you wonder why people are so amazed by a piece of falling rock? I don't, simply because shooting stars amazes me too.
I've seen just one in my life. At the most unexpected time. I would've jumped in excitement, but it wasn't the time to be joyous and all.
Well to me shooting stars are a paradox.
On one hand, it is just so absolutely beautiful. What a sight. And to think all that's required to created it was rock and friction (albeit in space with a high magnitude of both factors). But wow. Something flashes by in the dark gloomy sky for a second or two. Who wouldn't be taken by its glow and seemingly rare existence? No wonder people are superstituous enough to think it's a sign of good luck and start making wishes when they see one. Ok, I thought that was totally dumb, but I secretly made a wish that night. If only the circumstances was more correct..
Now, it is able to describe my feelings too. An explosion. I'm being brave, but deep in my heart there are little pieces of broken comet. To be true, those special feelings have kind of diminished slowly too, but parts of it always remained in my heart.
So what do you think? Shooting stars: a sign of good luck, an omen of shattering events, or both? Your call.
Once again I couldn't sleep. Only managed to shut my eyes for little more than an hour. This is getting ridiculous. I may be seriously needing help soon.
Apologies for another rather boring entry. It's 4+ in the morning and im not in the best of moods.
